Organising an event involves much more than the logistics of the day itself. Cleaning the venue before, during and after is an aspect that can make the difference between a successful event and one that leaves a bad impression. Whether it is a wedding, a trade fair, a conference or a corporate party, professional cleaning is an investment, not an expense.
Pre-event cleaning
The venue must be spotless before the first guest arrives. This includes a deep clean of floors, surfaces, windows and bathrooms. If the event is outdoors, the area must be swept, litter removed and walkways prepared.
Pre-event cleaning also involves preparing the facilities: checking that bathrooms are stocked with paper, soap and bins, that catering areas are sanitised and that the space has a pleasant appearance and smell.
For large events, a joint inspection with the cleaning company a few days beforehand is advisable to identify the venue’s specific needs and plan resources.
Cleaning during the event
For long-duration events or those with high attendance, having cleaning staff on site is essential. Their role is to keep bathrooms in good condition throughout, empty bins before they overflow, immediately clean food or drink spills, and keep walkways clear.
The presence of cleaning staff during the event not only maintains hygiene but prevents accidents: a wet floor from a spill can cause a fall with legal consequences for the organiser.
Post-event cleaning
This is the most intensive phase. When the last guest leaves, the venue is full of waste, stains, food debris and decorations to remove. A professional team tackles this clean-up systematically.
It starts with the collection and separation of waste: organic, packaging, glass and non-recyclable remains. Then decorative elements and set-up items that are not the cleaning company’s responsibility are removed.
Next comes a general clean of floors, surfaces and furniture. Bathrooms are thoroughly disinfected. If there are stains on carpets or upholstery, they are treated with specific products. Catering areas are fully degreased and disinfected.
Types of events and their particularities
Each type of event has its own cleaning challenges. Weddings and celebrations generate large amounts of food waste and decorations, plus wine and wax stains. Corporate events usually require more discreet and rapid cleaning, often in the early hours so the venue is ready first thing. Trade fairs and exhibitions need daily cleaning over several consecutive days.
How much does it cost?
The price depends on the type of event, the venue size, the number of attendees and the services hired. A basic post-event cleaning service for a 200-square-metre venue can cost between 300 and 600 euros. For large events with service before, during and after, quotes are calculated bespoke.
How to book the service
Ideally, contact the cleaning company at least two weeks in advance, although for large events more lead time is advisable. Provide as much information as possible: type of event, number of attendees, location, schedule, type of catering and any special requirements. With that information, the company can size the team and prepare an accurate quote.
